Mere & District Railway Modellers are delighted to announce that they will be supporting and participating in the third Creative Mere event in 2024.
Railway modelling is truly a creative pastime, being a magical mix of artistic talent, engineering skills, historical research and imaginative supposition. It is also completely absorbing, a source of immense satisfaction, and above all great fun.
Members of the club will be on hand in the Mere Lecture Hall on both days to demonstrate a range of modelling skills, the fruit of many years of learning and experience, including the construction of miniature buildings and structures, and the creation of realistic representations of the natural environment, vegetation and landscape. They will also be happy to explain how to get involved in this wonderful hobby, and to enjoy its valuable social benefits by becoming members of the club.
The club is open to everyone regardless of age or situation, and no previous experience is necessary, only an interest in the hobby and a willingness to get involved and to learn . The current members, many of them now retired from full-time employment, are passionately interested in railway modelling, and welcome the opportunity to pass on the knowledge and experience they have gathered over the years to all new members, young or old, in a friendly, safe and supportive way.
